Add a Partner for Progress

Many people find it difficult to keep motivated during a workout. One of the best ways to overcome this is to pair up with a workout partner or group. A workout partner can help you push thru your workout, stay motivated and stay on track to reaching your fitness goals. By adding a partner, and/or a group, you will add consistency to your exercise program.
Numerous studies have been performed regarding the benefits of working out with a partner and experts agree that group exercise can definitely be beneficial. “Working out in a group provides support, accountability, and structure,” says Lynne Vaughan, Chief Innovation Officer of the national YMCA. “People don’t want to let their buddy or group down, which is terrific in terms of adherence to an exercise program.”
Patient information published in 2005 in the Journal of American Academy of Physician Assistants also recommends that people exercise with a partner or group because they “are more likely to stay on track.” The group encourages you to involve family members, friends, co-workers and even pets in some cases!
So next time you are feeling down on your current program or feel like you’re not meeting your fitness goals, consider adding a fitness partner… you will be more likely to complete a well-rounded exercise routine and get thru a potentially tougher workout!
